My name is Fred. To say that I'm morbidly obese would be putting it lightly...no pun intended. I've been overweight for as far back as I can remember. In fact, the lowest weight I can think of now was 220lbs at 5'8", and that was in 9th grade.
Since then I've slowly gone back up. I've done low-carb a few times, and I'll admit that it worked quite well...but as soon as I slipped off the diet, the pounds came back quickly and in excess.
Today, I am 23 years old and I don't know how much I weigh. It's embarrassing to even try to find out. My last weigh-in was at my doctor on a follow-up when I quit smoking almost a year ago. At that point in time I weighed 452lbs. By now I surely weigh more.
I'm guessing my weight is probably around 460lbs on a good day. That would put me at rougly two and a half times the "recommended" body weight for someone of my height, hence the name of this blog. I know that underneath this fatty exterior is a muscular frame -- there must be, if I am still able to walk around and go up and down stairs at this size. Think about an "average-size" man carrying another average-man and a pre-teen kid on his shoulders everywhere he went. Such a man must have some muscle to him, right?
At present, I wear 4xlt and 5xlt polo shirts. Button-downs are a 22" neck. 54" waist pants get worn below the waist because I cannot find pants that fit at the waist. Those pants have a 32" inseam. I wear Size 14W or Size 15 sneakers, depending on what's available, what's comfortable, and what brand they are. While I'm on the subject of clothes...who the hell decides that most the 4xl and 5xl polos should have thick horizontal stripes? Can I meet this person and beat him down?
So what's going to be on this blog?
Well, if I remember to keep it up, I'll be chronicaling my journey. Sharing my story as I drop down closer and closer to my ideal weight of 189lbs. Whether or not 189lbs is even obtainable is yet to be found out, because like I said before, I probably have a fairly muscular frame under all this fat. What I eat, when I work out, how I work out, where I work out...if I work out...hopefully I'll have a fair amount of commenters to kick me in the ass if I start to slip.
